As this year draws to a close, we wanted to take some time to say happy holidays and a big fat THANK YOU to all of our extras. Whether you’ve just made a profile and are waiting for that first text from us, or you’ve been lucky enough to be a regular on set this year, we are so grateful for you!
This time last year we had very different expectations for 2023. Between several highly anticipated projects being pulled and an unexpected strike, the outlook for the year was uncertain. However, it allowed us to put lots of energy and attention to detail into the projects we did have and we are so proud of everything we worked on. We’d love to share a little bit about some of our favourite productions from this year.
Set to premiere on the first night of Sundance Film Festival, Irish rap group Kneecap’s biopic is one we’re really looking forward to. Kneecap is the first Irish-language film to ever have been selected by Sundance, and we are so proud to have had a hand in it. Not to mention our extras had a blast, from being on set with Michael Fassbender to getting paid to attend a Kneecap gig. It was unlike anything else we’ve done, and from the sounds of it, will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen.
This year we also watched and fell in love with the BBC police drama Blue Lights. It was a hot topic of conversation in the office, so we were absolutely delighted when it came back to film series 2. Our extras love working on a police drama – there’s always so much action! But mostly we were delighted because we can’t wait to see what happens next.
Finally, we got the opportunity to work on our first Christmas film this year! The Heist Before Christmas (formerly Joy to the World) is a comedy starring James Nesbitt, Timothy Spall, and Bronagh Waugh. It is the perfect festive family film and is premiering on Sky on 24thDecember at 8pm. Fun fact, we cast a whopping 100 Santas for a scene! Most definitely a first for us.
While 2023 threw us for a few loops, here we are at the end of the year with so much on the horizon to look forward to. We have been busy casting the live action How to Train Your Dragon, Showtrial Series 2 which will see us right into the new year and start 2024 off with a bang. There are plenty more hotly anticipated projects coming soon as well.
